Renewal Audit
Renew Your NDIS Registration With Confidence
Your registration expires every three years. Without a completed renewal audit before that date, you cannot claim NDIA payments for the supports you deliver. We make sure that does not happen.

Your Registration Does Not Renew Itself
As your NDIS registration nears its three-year expiry, you must apply to renew and complete a new audit — a re-certification or re-verification audit depending on your registration type. Miss the deadline, and your registration expires. Without registration, you cannot claim NDIA payments for the supports you deliver.
Our renewal audit service is built around three things: a full-scope compliance review, documentation preparation, and strategic audit support — designed to take you from the Commission's six-month expiry reminder through to a finalised audit report with confidence.
What Is an NDIS Renewal Audit?
An NDIS renewal audit is the audit you must complete to extend your registration beyond its three-year expiry date. Depending on your original registration pathway, this is either a re-certification audit (for providers originally certified) or a re-verification audit (for providers originally verified).
The NDIS Commission sends a reminder approximately six months before your registration expires, with instructions for completing your renewal application through the Provider Portal. Once your application is submitted, you receive an initial scope of audit document, which is used to quote and schedule your renewal audit with an approved auditing body.
Important
Your registration remains active while the Commission processes your renewal application — but only if you have submitted your application and completed your audit before the expiry date. Do not wait for the reminder to start preparing.

Re-Certification vs Re-Verification: Which Applies to You?
Your renewal audit type depends on how you were originally registered. Both types assess the same fundamental question: are you continuing to meet the NDIS Practice Standards relevant to your registration scope?
Re-Certification Audit
A two-stage audit that begins with a desktop document review completed remotely, followed by an on-site visit to assess how your services are actually being delivered. Includes interviews with staff and participants, and file reviews to confirm services are implemented as described.
Stage 1: Desktop document review — completed remotely
Stage 2: On-site visit — assesses actual service delivery
Interviews with staff and consenting participants
File reviews confirming services match documentation
Re-Verification Audit
Assesses your continued compliance with the Verification Module of the NDIS Practice Standards. Completed entirely as a remote desktop document review — no on-site component required.
Completed entirely as a remote desktop review
No on-site visit required
Assesses the Verification Module standards
Confirms continued compliance with your registration scope
How We Support Your Renewal
Full-Scope Compliance Review
We thoroughly review your entire operation against current NDIS standards — policies, procedures, and service delivery models — to identify every area that needs updating before your auditor does it for you.
Renewal is also the point in your registration cycle where you can change your scope of services. We review your scope alongside your compliance position, so your renewed registration reflects where your business is heading — not just where it has been.
Documentation Preparation
We organise and compile all necessary documentation, ensuring nothing is overlooked and your submission is complete and accurate — for both the desktop review stage and, where applicable, the on-site visit.
Re-certification audits include interviews with staff and participants. We brief your team so their answers reflect what your documentation says and what your service actually delivers — eliminating the disconnect that auditors find most concerning.
Strategic Audit Support
Beyond compliance, we provide strategic advice to help you enhance your operations and service offerings. The aim is not just to pass the renewal audit — it is to emerge from the process with stronger systems and a clearer view of where your service is headed.
Providers who treat renewal purely as a hurdle to clear miss the chance to reset their scope, sharpen their documentation, and walk away from the audit with genuinely better operations — not just a renewed certificate.
What Your Renewal Preparation Includes
Early planning from the six-month mark
We recommend starting as soon as the Commission's reminder notice arrives — or earlier. Re-certification audits involve two stages and on-site coordination, which take longer to schedule than a single desktop review.
Registration scope advice
If you are considering adding or removing registration groups at renewal, we advise on what that means for your audit type, cost, and timeline — so you make the decision with full information.
Documentation and evidence preparation
We organise the files, records, and evidence your auditor will need for both the desktop review stage and, where applicable, the on-site visit — so your team is not scrambling at the last minute.
Staff and participant interview readiness
Re-certification audits include interviews. We brief your team so their answers reflect what your documentation says and what your service actually delivers — no surprises on audit day.
Renewal application support
We assist with completing the renewal application in the Provider Portal accurately and on time, reducing the risk of delays caused by incomplete or inconsistent information.
Corrective action follow-through
If your previous audits identified non-conformances, we confirm those issues are genuinely resolved — not just documented as resolved — before your renewal auditor checks them.
When Should You Start Preparing?
Begin preparation as soon as you receive the Commission's six-month reminder — earlier if possible. Re-certification audits in particular involve two stages and on-site coordination, which take longer to schedule than a single desktop review. Providers who wait until two or three months before expiry often find themselves constrained by auditor availability as much as by their own readiness.
If you are concerned you will not complete your audit before your expiry date, contact us immediately. Options exist to manage this risk — but only if raised early enough to act on them.
